The Lost Waterfront

The early-2010s Williamsburg DIY scene that closed, almost all at once, around 2014.

For a few years the Williamsburg waterfront held a tight knot of DIY spaces — sweaty, all-ages-leaning, mythologized almost immediately. Most closed in a single wave around 2014, a moment frequently discussed in terms of development and rising rents. The atlas keeps them precisely because they are gone.
