1698 Broadway (at 53rd Street) · Midtown, Manhattan40.7626° N / 73.9826° W

Overview

The midtown ballroom often called the home of the mambo, central to the 1950s Latin dance craze.

The Palladium Ballroom on Broadway is widely cited as 'the home of the mambo,' the midtown hall where the 1950s mambo craze drew a famously mixed crowd. It is associated with the big bands of Tito Puente, Machito, and Tito Rodríguez and with Wednesday-night mambo sessions. (Distinct from the 1985 club Palladium.)
