108 West 43rd Street · Midtown, Manhattan40.7565° N / 73.9846° W

Overview

Midtown hotel ballroom that hosted drag balls and, later, the early disco Le Jardin.

The Hotel Diplomat's rented ballrooms are often cited as a midtown venue for drag balls across the 1960s–70s, part of the lineage that fed New York's ballroom culture, and the building later housed the early disco Le Jardin. Documentation of specific balls is thin and dates are approximate.
