Biography

Morabito— who began her career as Susan Morabito — moved to New York in 1987 and opened the Greenwich Village record store BPM before a breakthrough summer residency at the Pavilion in the Fire Island Pines. She is often cited as one of the most prominent women and openly gay DJs on the international gay 'circuit,' provided the music at many AIDS-era fundraising parties, and was the first woman to headline the Saint-at-Large Black Party. She later dropped her first name, performing simply as Morabito alongside a shift toward tribal, progressive, and tech house.
