A converted parking structure on King Street, Paradise Garage is widely associated with resident DJ Larry Levan and a culture of devotional, all-night dancing. It is often cited within histories of garage and house music and remembered for a sound system engineered around the room rather than the bar. The membership model and largely Black and Latino, queer crowd are frequently described as central to its legacy.
